Hotels in Las Vegas Rooms

It was months ago, January to be exact, when the W Las Vegas Hotel & Residences premiered at the Sundance Festival. VIP guests were treated to a simulated Living Room of the future hotel, a taste of what the nightlife would be like as Amanda Scheer-Demme would be running the hotel's lounge, a first-ever poker tourney and were even allowed to reserve a condo.

But since then, the hype for this hotel has been a little too quiet. We wondered if the place was indeed going to end up as another Las Ramblas, (Clooney's Vegas failure) as a Standard & Poor's report predicted months ago.

Which is why we got in touch with a spokesperson at Edge Resorts, the development company behind the W (in partnership with Starwood Hotels.) Maggie Feldman lets us know that the W Las Vegas is scheduled to open in 2009. Above is a rendering of a room with a view.

Additionally, the first release of condo offerings in the hotel have been sold out and they are once again taking reservations for the second set of condos. And the LA boutique store Fred Segal will open up a shop within the hotel.

We even got the latest word on Las Ramblas, which Edge Resorts snapped up a few months ago. Turns out Edge will plan a resort-casino project that will "complement" the W Las Vegas.

We're not exactly sure what "complement"means, but we got at least three years to figure it out. Let's just hope Clooney didn't render the land useless.

Costing $2.7 billion, the Wynn is a luxury hotel and casino resort located directly opposite the Fashion Show Shopping Mall. Unlike other Las Vegas hotels, it doesn’t have a theme – it just exudes class. Like a huge curving wave of glistening darkened glass, the Wynn is jaw-dropping. At 50 storeys tall, it’s one of the tallest buildings on the strip and covers 215 acres.

Named after casino developer Steve Wynn and opened on April 28th 2005, the Wynn has 2,716 rooms and suites a 110,000 square feet casino, 22 restaurants, and an 18 hole luxury golf course (the Wynn Golf and Country Club).

Hotels in LasVegasThe philosophy underyling the design of the Wynn is ‘inside out’ – that is, rather than a big flashy tourist display to attract you inside, the Wynn is deliberately understated (well, as much as a gigantic 50 storey glass building on Las Strip can be understated!), leading people to be drawn inside through curiousity more than awe.

And it works, too. No Egyptian Sphynx, Eiffel Tower or New York skyline is needed to draw your attention to the building. Its size, style, and the glorious greenery and lakes that surround it are enough to draw you in all by themselves. Of course, the waterfall, enormous moving sign and huge booming soundtrack that booms out as you soak in its splendour don’t hurt, either!

To give you an indication of the luxury of the Wynn, it also has its own Ferrari and Maserati dealership located on-site. In case you’re wondering just who’d buy a Ferrari or Masserati whlst on holiday, remember this is Vegas – people can occasionally win vast sums of money! If you’ve just beat the house, what better way for the house to get its cash back than to tempt you to spend that cash at the same hotel. Marketing genius!

For those not lucky enough to scoop the jackpot, the Wynn also has its own car exhibition (the Penske-Wynn), featuring many of the world’s top supercars for people to drool over.

Hotels in Pakistan

Pakistan's great sights range from ancient ruins to its Himalayan peaks. But that doesn't mean there are no first-rate and affordable hotels in cities like Lahore and Islamabad.

The Islamabad Arena is located in a posh address. It is near ruins that date back thousands of years. Islamabad Arena's rooms bear Pakistani motif. The Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore, on the other hand, has 485 suites. It is near Lahore International Airport and the main business center. The hotel's restaurant serves Western, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The Pearl is highly rated for arm service.

The Mirage is within walking distance to Anarkali's old shops Food Street where you can find over 100 local restaurants. Moreover, The Mirage's suites have high speed internet. The Wester Inn in Islamabad, meanwhile, is minutes away from the Pakistan Presidency. It is on Main Embassy Road, which is why it is easy to go practically anywhere in the city. It's a small low-cost hotel that has all the amenities of a four-star hotel such as spacious rooms with functional decors, Wi-Fi wired rooms and lobby, and airport fetch. At any time of the day Wester Inn staff serve you food upon request.

Security remains an issue for travelers to Pakistan, but it doesn't seem to impact much on the continuing efforts of the present government to beef up its tourism program. As it is, Pakistan is getting there in no time. .

5 Star Hotels in London

The Landmark London is one of the five star hotels that will not charge you as much as others would. It still is not cheap compared to what it would cost if you stayed in backpackers, but for a five star hotel, the prices are very affordable. The Landmark London also is in a nice location (Marylebone) with good access to public transport (Marylebone tube station and train station are just across the road, Baker Street and Edgware Road are also very close by). You can walk over to Regent Park and also have a look at the Sherlock Holmes museum if you are interested in this character.

The Landmark London Hotel has 299 rooms and you could even get married there as this hotel holds a wedding licence. In the Victorian Era, this hotel was one of the railway hotels and is now one of the last of its kind which gives it a special atmosphere. It definitely is a nice place for history fans. This hotel has some of the most spacious rooms in London. In other hotels you will have to pay a lot more for rooms that are a lot smaller, so this hotel is a very good deal. In fact it is a cheap 5 star hotels in London near the best spots.

When it comes to food, you will not be disappointed with the choices you have in the area. For some fish and chips you can walk over to the Seashell on Lisson Grove (if you stay in London, just have to have fish and chips once). European food can be found in the twotwentytwo on Marylebone Street. The Swan & Edgar on Linhope Street will cook up some British food for you. Living in central London, kids are such a rare sight that it’s easy to forget they exist. Bar the odd aberration like Hamley’s, all the shops and restaurants cater pretty much exclusively to a 16+ demographic. During the school holidays though, it’s a time-honoured tradition for kids from all over the south of England to come and visit some of London’s best family-friendly attractions. I’m talking stuff like the interactive exhibits at the Science Museum, wax celebrities at Madame Tussaud’s and caged monsters of the deep at the London Aquarium.
Finding a family-friendly base for these activities in the middle of London ain’t always easy, though. Most London hotels are used largely by business people and couples of all ages looking to take some time away from their families and absorb some culture. Children, therefore, are often implicitly if not actively discouraged, in the fear that they might disrupt the tranquillity of the other guests. It’s rare to find an establishment that really goes out of its way to make children feel welcome, but they do exist, and we’ve rounded up a few of them that you should consider for your next family weekend in London.

Hotels in LondonThere are Novotels all over the city, but this one is a nice and out-of-the-way hotel near Greenwich, which is one of the more scenic parts of London, and an area where you don’t have to deal with the same levels of noise, pollution and manic activity. This four star hotel offers purpose-built family rooms designed to accommodate two adults and two children. The best part is that accommodation and breakfast are both free to the kids, as long as they’re under eighteen years old.
The closest tube station is Greenwich, which services National Rail, the Docklands Light Railway and even has a ferry service running up the river.

Base2Stay has been winning awards and much repeat business for its gently innovative approach to hotels which centres around just being honest and straightforward, with absolutely no hidden fees. Even the minibar has been replaced with a vending machine, so you know exactly what you’re getting at all times. One of its most welcome ideas has been to put a little minikitchen in each room, allowing guests to prepare their own food in their rooms. Ideal for families as little snacks are some of the most expensive things you can buy in Kensington. The rooms are larger than you’d expect as well, and can sleep up to four people. Local restaurants offer exclusive discounts to Base2Stay guests, and will even deliver food to your room if you’re feeling lazy.
This Kensington hotel is within a kilometre of three tube stations: Earls Court, Gloucester Road and High Street Kensington.
